Substance use is a continuum, not an on-off switch.
People can move back and forth along it, but the closer use gets to addiction, the harder it is to come back without help. Module 2 walks through every stage and the warning signs to watch for.

We want your certificate to count. If a court or another authority ordered your class, these three points matter.
Get approval first
If you’re taking this course for a court order or other legal requirement, confirm with your court, probation officer, or attorney that an online, self-paced course will be accepted. Written approval is best.
DUI offenses and MASEP
For a DUI conviction or non-adjudication in Mississippi, the state-mandated program is the Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program (MASEP), which generally requires in-person attendance for Mississippi residents. This course does not replace MASEP.
Acceptance and refunds
Acceptance varies by court, judge, and county, and the final decision rests with whoever ordered your class. Refunds can’t be issued for a course completed without prior approval if the certificate is later rejected.
Who this course is for
Adults who need, or simply want, a clear and honest look at alcohol and drugs. Straight facts without judgment, and practical tools you can actually use.
-
You have a court or probation requirement
For example, a minor in possession charge or another alcohol and drug awareness class not tied to DUI license reinstatement, once your court approves an online course.
-
A school, employer, or program asked you to take a class
Show you’ve completed alcohol and drug education, on your own schedule.
-
You want to understand the risks
For yourself or for someone you care about, and to know where to turn for help in Mississippi.
What’s inside the course
A short introduction, then four modules that build on each other, from the basics of how substances work to finding support and moving forward. Tap a module to see its lessons.

Common questions
Will my court accept this course?
It depends on your court. Acceptance of online courses varies by court, judge, and county in Mississippi, so please confirm with your court, probation officer, or attorney before you enroll. We can’t guarantee acceptance without that prior approval.
Can I take this course for a Mississippi DUI?
For a DUI conviction or non-adjudication in Mississippi, the state-mandated program is MASEP (Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program), which generally requires in-person attendance for Mississippi residents. This course doesn’t replace MASEP. If you’re unsure what your case requires, ask your court or attorney.
How long does the course take?
It’s self-paced. There are 21 lessons plus the final assessment, and you can start, stop, and resume whenever it suits you. Your progress is saved, so you’ll always pick up right where you left off.
What if I don’t pass the final assessment?
You need a score of 70% or higher to pass. If you fall short, you can review the lessons and try again.
Who sees my answers?
Your answers to the reflection questions are shared with the YESS team. They aren’t posted publicly or shown to other students. The self-assessment of personal use patterns in Module 2 is for your eyes only and isn’t submitted.
Is this the same as a substance use evaluation or treatment?
No. This is an educational course. It isn’t an evaluation and it isn’t treatment. Module 4 explains the treatment options available and how to find support in Mississippi if you or someone you love needs it.
What do I need to take the course?
An internet connection and a phone, tablet, or computer. There’s nothing to install. The worksheet downloads as a PDF you can print if you like.
